3 Common Stove & Oven Repair Problems

The stove and oven are some of the most widely used appliances in homes around the United States, which is why they often endure a lot of wear and tear. Fortunately, for most stove and oven issues, replacement isn’t the only solution since they can be easily fixed.

Here Are 3 Common Stove and Oven Issues to Look Out For:

1. Damaged or Loose Coil

A damaged or loose coil is one of the most common stove and oven issues. Coils can be easily damaged or loosened either by using large pans and pots or through regular wear and tear. If you see a coil starting to break or wear out, replacement will be necessary. You can call a trusted repair service to do the replacement.

2. Uneven Heating

Uneven heating of the coils is yet another common issue affecting stoves and ovens. It may be limited to just a single burner or it may affect multiple burners. Uneven heating is a serious issue that should only be handled by a competent repair professional.

3. Gas Stove Does Not Light

The most common issue affecting gas stoves is an unlit frame. Often there’s still the clicking sound, but there’s no sign of light just the smell of gas. If there’s no gas, then your problem lies with the gas flow. If there’s no clicking, the problem probably lies with the ignition switch. Once you have identified the source of the problem, you will need to call your local appliance repair service to assess the issue.

If you ever require help with any of the 3 stove and oven issues discussed here, you should always contact a professional repair service. It is your best bet to ensure quick, safe, and effective appliance repairs that ensure the longevity of your appliances.

Why Is My Oven Not Turning On?

For electric ovens make sure it's plugged in correctly. Make sure it's getting power, reset the breaker or check the fuses. If you have a gas oven, check the gas shut off valve to make sure gas is getting to the appliance.  Try turning on a surface burner or broil burner.

Why Is My Oven Taking Long To Preheat?

Most ovens will take about 20 minutes to heat up to 350 degrees. Make sure the door is kept closed during preheating to speed up the process.  If you have any foil in the oven remove it as this can slow down the heating process.

Why Won't My Oven Door Unlock?

If you just did a self cleaning cycle, allow the oven enough time to cool down, this can take up to an hour. If after an hour it still won't open, try resetting the self clean cycle, wait for about 15 seconds for the lock motor to stop, press cancel, wait for the lock motor again (15 seconds) to stop, now try opening the oven door.
